Dalton is good enough and youthful enough that we were right to not draft his replacement in 2017. With that being said, the Alex Smith to Pat Mahommes transition does show that it can be of benefit to think ahead rather than wait until your team is 2-14 and you can't help but get your pick of the QB litter.
