The political donation very well played a part in the award; it the very least she probably wouldn't have been on his radar if she wasn't politically active. Nonetheless, she has been a huge provider of substance abuse services and research. She has also donated to Jewish charities. I don't know enough about the award and the history of who received it to know if what she has done makes her worthy of it. That being said, babe Ruth and Elvis got them just for being cultural entertainment figures. Two NFL players got them as well, but they had public service impacts as well.


Obama gave the same medal to Michael Jordan and Ellen for whatever they impacted and they are huge democrat donors.
