This is one of those inconvenient truths, and people just don't like to be told pedophiles are anything but 100% wrong, black and white monsters.
Right. It's like how whenever some serial sex offender is finally caught, you'll hear people make comments like "How did he get away with it for so long? How did his wife not know?" etc. The terrifying reality is that these people not only exist, but the vast majority of them who actually act on their fantasies keep it completely secret--unsurprisingly.
