Well he's a con. And his supporters have been repeatedly told. At this point they like playing the fool and getting conned and it clearly works as Americans have known he was a con for years and still voted for him.
It's hard to even blame Trump. Behind closed doors he probably laughs at how dumb his supporters are.
Well he already mocked them for not turning on him even if he shot someone in the middle of the street. So you know the character (or lack thereof) of the people that support him.
And he also knows.
