She said that when she worked in retail there, it'd be common to see large groups of some of those folks come in for their once a month trip to "the big city" to get their supplies before heading back to the hollows. Heading out there, you might hop on a gravel road and keep going for an hour with nothing around and no cell service. 

There's a reason why I live half a mile from the city limits of Baltimore. I'm not made to live in secluded, rural places.
