As to the idea; it's stupid IMO. I agree there needs to be so reform in SNAP, but penalizing the store owners is not it. It actually seems like an idea an Left would get more behind.

I think the caricature of the left would support this (that caricature being "they want to tax everything just for the lolz"). 

The real left is not interested in disincentivizing people from accepting food stamps, a system that affects poor and underemployed people, one of the left's constituencies.

With that said, only the caricature of the right would support this as well (the caricature being rich people having endless "Eyes Wide Shut" parties while laughing at the poor class that they created).

The real right is for the working class, which this bill would hurt as well, especially small business owners who would either lose business for not accepting food stamps any more, turning away possible regular customers, or taking on an extra tax for no real reason.
