Iraq Veteran Fired Due To Skin Color

Are Democrats their own worst enemy right now? Relatively young female veteran who was an aide on a winning campaign that beat an incumbent of the other party and ran IAVA.

Thought they'd be pretty happy with how things were going after winning the House in midterms.

When qualified and competent white people get fired only because they are white for the sake of "diversity", when does diversity then just become racism called by another name?

"It's possible she was tired of the bullshit."
"Maybe she fell on her sword."
"Maybe she held some role in the hiring of folks."

You're sounding like a defender of Harvey Weinstein did, just you're defending racism instead of rape. I pointed out this woman because she was a veteran and probably the exact kind of talent that they needed to get more moderate votes, but people used their power to force not just her, but SIX people to resign from their job solely due to the color of their skin. That's racism.

Talk about bias. There's really not a lot of possible situations when it immediately follows and outcry to do something about a lack of diversity and then six people are forced to resign due to skin color.

The executive director of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) resigned abruptly on Monday amid members’ complaints that the committee’s upper echelons lacked diversity.

Nothing in your article says fired or forced to resign.  You made an assumption.

So let's look at the original Politico story cited in your article:

https://www.politico.com/story/2019/07/29/top-dccc-staffer-out-amid-diversity-uproar-1439525

Quote:On Monday morning, Allison Jaslow, DCCC executive director and a close ally of Rep. Cheri Bustos (D-Ill.) — chair of the committee — resigned during a tense meeting at the party’s Capitol Hill headquarters. And in the next 10 hours, much of the senior staff was out: Jared Smith, the communications director and another Bustos ally; Melissa Miller, a top DCCC communications aide; Molly Ritner, political director; Nick Pancrazio, deputy executive director; and Van Ornelas, the DCCC’s director of diversity.

Jacqui Newman, the chief operating officer for the campaign arm, will serve as interim executive director and facilitate the search for a permanent replacement, Bustos said in a statement late Monday.

“Today has been a sobering day filled with tough conversations that too often we avoid," Bustos said. "But I can say confidently that we are taking the first steps toward putting the DCCC back on path to protect and expand our majority, with a staff that truly reflects the diversity of our Democratic caucus and our party."

Based on that story it seems she resigned because the committee was not happy with how she was handing the lack of diversity...not cause she was white herself.  If she disagreed with them then she can resign...that is not being forced out or fired.

Let's dig deeper:

https://www.politico.com/story/2019/07/25/dccc-campaign-black-latino-1435611

Quote:House Democrats’ campaign arm is locked in a long-simmering battle with prominent black and Hispanic lawmakers who believe the party committee and its chairwoman have shortchanged people of color.

Senior Hispanic and black members of Congress have privately clashed with Rep. Cheri Bustos (D-Ill.) over her personnel decisions, what they say are tone-deaf comments on race and whether she's lived up to the promises she made during the campaign to win the chairmanship of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

“There is not one person of color — black or brown, that I’m aware of — at any position of authority or decision-making in the DCCC,” said Rep. Marcia Fudge (D-Ohio), a former chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus. “It is shocking, it is shocking, and something needs to be done about it.”

Bustos sought a meeting with Fudge, and Fudge said no.

“Until they show me they are serious about diversity, there’s no reason for me to meet with them,” Fudge said.

And Fudge isn’t alone. Interviews with more than two dozen Democratic lawmakers, aides and strategists detailed months of frustration and unanswered questions about Bustos’ efforts to retain staffers of color in top positions, boost Latino voter outreach and hire firms run by people of color. They said Bustos was tactless when challenged by lawmakers of color.

“The overall plan for Latino outreach seems to be some 1980s playbook, which doesn't work anymore,” Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.) said.

The DCCC declined to make Bustos available for an interview but said the “DCCC has continued to increase diversity amongst our staff.”

“Anyone seeking to divide our party and stoke infighting between Democrats at a time when Donald Trump is in the White House is undermining our ability to protect the majority,” DCCC spokesman Jared Smith said.

A DCCC aide also said “nearly 50 percent of the senior staff identifies as racially diverse” but they declined to name a senior staffer who is a person of color. In addition, they said 42 percent of the DCCC's entire staff identifies as racially diverse and 55 percent of the staff are women. And the DCCC said that 13 out of 27 senior staffers identify as African American, Asian or Pacific Islander, or Latino.

This appears to be a situation where there were questions on how to handle issues and the leadership thought there WERE NO issues so rather than change they quit an will let someone else handle it.

I see nothing in any of the linked articles that say they wanted the leadership to step down...only to address their concerns over the lack of diversity.

No one was fired or "forced to resign".

I should add you (universal) probably won't see article like these about the "big tent" GOP.  White is alright with them.   Ninja
