If Trump directs US Military assets to assist Turkey in this attack; then I'll be angrier with him than anyone in this forum.
I don't think he will do that. Rather the national and international push back is forcing him to "stand up" to Turkey. A little. He may not be able to prevent Congress from imposing sanctions. (And looks like Turkey's admission to the EU is on permanent hold.)
HOWEVER, I just remembered something. The Kurds dropped a couple of mortars on Turkish border town yesterday and may have killed a toddler. That is an attack on NATO soil, but I don't think it falls under article 5 because the "attacker" was acting in self defense.
