I agree, they most certainly did that. They knew full well what they was getting into. You have to be methodical about the way you pull those off. To me, you simply cannot set this type of small market team up as a "flash in the pan" type situation. You have to grind out a type of baseball organization you want from Single A to the Majors, and keep that flow going with the hopes of getting lucky with a few 'late round' picks. I am all for trading away FA that we wont be able to sign to restock the farm, but you cannot trade your best propect players that you have rights for quite a while away (before arbs kick in, etc) for a one or two year rental.
