He had one year remaining. He's being extended for an additional 4 years. He is now signed through the next 5 seasons.
And the new deal is worth 12 mil per. You have to take the extension on it's own, just like you would for a free agent signing. Just because he's signed for an average amount over 5 years does not mean this extension costs us that average.
We valued Joe Mixon at 12 mil per. I think it's a terrible contract, but I'll leave it at that. I know how the board works, and people will pitch a fit over peceived negativity.
Fwiw, I've said all along I thought he was worth between 8-10, with 8 being a bargain and 10 being paying a premium. I said anything over 10 and it's not worth it. To each their own.
