Why can't he stop insulting them

Those he insults who continue to support him do so because of one of two reasons:
1. Those supporters will be led to believe he is the better option as enablers will try to mitigate his comments by bringing up his opponent. This is known as a Red Herring (Charlottesville anyone?)

2. Those supporters realize Biden participates frequently in the soft bigotry of low expectations. But they also realize he will support platforms that will advantage them. (Much like the Evangelical do Trump)

I will say kudos to those that simply stated Biden's comments are not acceptable.

I've raised some questions about your explanation of why Biden "continues to insult," and offered some competing hypotheses, which you have not addressed. 

Your basic premise seems to be that Biden WOULD stop insulting "those who support him" if he were somehow "held accountable" by the mainstream media. Assuming that he is NOT held accountable by the MSM renders unclear what you mean by "accountable," since his gaffes are in fact widely reported, discussed and condemned. Are reporters also supposed to wash his mouth out with soap too, or what? 

A second premise seems to be that although his gaffes are reported, he gets over on those insulted supporters because others--Bpat types--"enable" Biden by distraction, bringing up Trump and otherwise "mitigating" Biden's comments for them, thus "leading" them to believe Biden is ok. As if once Biden enablers stopped comparing him to Trump FOR black people, then Biden would finally, somehow, be held accountable--whatever 'accountable' means now. 

In last place you add "they also realize he will support platforms that will advantage them"--almost as if Black people could look at party platforms and the behavior of politicians and decide for themselves which best serve their interests and which don't, without enablers "leading" them. Were that the case, then it is certainly possible that no amount of MSM "accountability" could make Biden pay a higher price than Trump, in terms of losing Black voter support.    

I am happy to see that you are looking into formal logical fallacies, but you are doing it wrong if you just claim people are commiting them without any demonstration.  E.g., Why shouldn't this entire thread be viewed as one long (and very weak) Tu quoque response to Bpat's thread on Trump, and your posts susceptible to the same charges of ad hominem, false dichotomy, etc. that you level at others?
