It is possible to be against the EU austerity program but still be in favor of remaining a member of the EU. That is the position of the Socialists.
just because they favor free trade in Europe doesn't mean they support the EU. According to the Lisbon treaty the EU must set up a free trade agreement with any country who leaves the EU. There is zero benefit to stay. They would all be better with their own currency, they would all be better with control of their own borders.
