I guess HE said he was pushed and was losing his balance.

I'd believe he didn't go out of his way to not hit Smith.  Doubt he was trying to take out his knees.  

But QB's can be real touchy about that stuff.  Rodgers was harping at the guy who sacked him and broke his collarbone and it was a totally legal hit.
