Milwaukee Brewers trade for Christian Yelich
#1
It wasn't so much spoken about here, but a lot of people on other sites have been talking about the Reds trading for Christian Yelich this off season to help them get back to winning Baseball.

He has been a consistent producer, already racking up 17.7 WAR in his 5 years in the league with a career stat line of .290/.369/.432 and he has an extremely team friendly contract (4 years, $43.25 million), so on the surface it made sense.

The big contention was what he would take to get, in terms or prospects.

Well, the Brewers just traded for him tonight.

They gave up their #1 and #6 prospect, who were ranked #13 and #86 nationally, as well as two other prospects, one of which was ranked #14 in their system.

The equivalent prospects from our system would be Nick Senzel, ranked 9th nationally, and one of either Tyler Mahle or Jesse Winker, ranked 78th and 100th nationally respectively. If it was Mahle, we would probably only need to give up 1 more prospect, say a Tony Santillan or Jeter Downs level prospect. If it were Winker, we'd probably have to give up either a higher rated prospect, like a Shed Long or Tyler Stephenson, or two lower rated prospects, like a Santillan and Fairchild.

Now, it's important to note that the Brewers were rated to have a better farm system than us, so the equivalent prospects in our system would probably not be as good of value overall.

So let's say it would cost us Nick Senzel (or maybe Hunter Greene), Tyler Mahle and Jeter Downs to get him.

Would you do that trade?

Because I wouldn't...
