Bob's Shiny New Offense Mock
#1
Not what I expect to happen but just something that would really get me excited for the future, whether it works out or not who knows but it would be a fun couple of years. May be my last mock of the year but just had some fun with this one.

Free Agents

Ja’Wuan James OT - We need a OT and a OG on the right side, we finally spend some money and sign a big FA that will help solidify our weakness at RT.

KJ Wright LB - Two pretty solid free agents? Yea I went crazy and got us a solid FA on both sides of the ball. Almost 0% chance of happening but again this is just what I would do before hitting the draft to improve the team on both sides of the ball.

Mario Edwards DE - Former early round draft pick of the Raiders that was released and claimed by the Giants. Played solid last season and was rated in the 70s by PFF. We love to take chances on guys that were early draft picks that disappointed. Injuries have slowed him down so far but in the right spot could be a surprise, with Lou coming over from the Giants I know alot were talking about Collins but this is probably more realistic.

Re-sign :
Tyler Eifert - 1 year deal
CJ Uzomah
Darqueze Dennard
Trey Hopkins

Draft :

1.  Kyler Murray QB Oklahoma - So I have a theme going where I only take QB's in round 1 this year, which is weird because I don't hate Dalton but I do think it is crazy to settle for "good enough". As long as Murray's measurements at the combine don't come back showing he is 5'6 175 pounds I think he can be a special guy in the NFL. Has great speed, great arm, and good accuracy.

2.  Cody Ford  OT/OG Oklahoma - Big powerful guy that will fit right in at RG for us. Has the size, power, and athleticism to come in and not only improve pass protection but be an absolute mauler in the run game opening up holes for Mixon. With James and Ford coming in the right side of our Oline will become a strength.

3.  Jace Sternberger TE Texas A&M - 6-4 250 pound guy that is in my opinion the best receiver at TE in this draft. Can get separation on LBs with his speed and is very good getting yards after he makes the catch. Pretty solid blocker but nothing special. Had 832 Yards and 10 TDs last season and will come in giving us a threat at the TE position to pair with Eifert and eventually take over for Eifert when he goes down.

4.  Khalen Saunders DT Western Illinois - Small school prospect that has the physical traits you look for in a player. Dominated the competition at Western Illinois, great power and great hands has him disrupting plays with consistency. This guy is a freak athlete, 6-1 320 pounds and can do a backflip. We love our shorter DT’s in the 4th round so I say we take a shot on Saunders here. He really looked good in drills against guys like Lindstrom and a couple others where he showed some real power.

5.  Khalil Hodge LB Buffalo - NFL ready LB that is a tackling machine. Has some questions around whether his skill set can translate to the next level but I believe that he will be a solid player at the next level and could be good insurance if Burfict misses his usual time. I like him alot better providing depth over the likes of Nickerson.

6.  Shareef Miller DE Penn State - Good pass rusher that seems to have the athleticism to get to the QB but is below average in run defense. Take the guy for his pass rushing skills now and allow him to add some muscle to a 6'5 frame and see if he can improve in other aspects of his game. Right now he would be a pass rush specialist and not much else but has some good potential and all the tools to be a good player along the Dline.

6.  Justin Layne CB Michigan State - Made the move over to CB after starting his career at WR, good size at 6'3 and has the ball skills needed to make the big plays. Plays very physical at the line of scrimmage and has no problem making a tackle. I could actually see him moving up to a day 2 player the closer we get to the draft because he has the size and skill set to be a very good player at the next level.

6.  Greg Dortch WR Wake Forest - Probably my favorite late round WR prospect. Dortch is fast, quick, and can make defenders look silly.  Very dangerous as a punt returner as well which gives him some special teams value. Size issues but is just an electric foot ball player that is worth a look this late. I think with the new coaching that AJ and Boyd will be fine and I believe that Ross could make that jump in his third season so I am really just looking for guys that are gonna fill out the back of the roster and replace the likes of Malone and Core. This is a guy with the potential to be a solid WR and will contribute on special teams from day 1.

7.  Jalen Hurd WR Baylor - One last WR to fill out the back end of our roster. Played RB at Tennessee and was the guy keeping Kamara from getting touches, realized his frame wasnt gonna work at RB in the NFL and transferred to Baylor to play WR. Great size at 6'4 230 with solid speed and great hands. Still a raw prospect at WR but showed that he has the ability by putting up 946 yards and 4 TDs his first year at WR. Great hands and great ability to make a play in traffic and after the catch. High potential guy with very little experience.
