2019 Bengal Draft: Pundits Review
#43
A few points related to Sample:

1) He is not just an In-line blocker. Most of his blocks are on the second level. And that is the real value of a blocking TE - otherwise you just use an extra lineman.

2) Ran alot of crossing routes and decoys. On crossing routes, he looks fluid and fast, but sets natural picks for the slot receiver, running a cross from the opposite side.

3) You can see on film, how lean he looks. For a 255lb player, he also carries himself lightly.

4) Although he ran shallow crosses well, on the few occasions that he ran deeper routes, his cuts didn't look crisp. The film didn't show expanded view, so I can't tell if he was running a post or a dig. But that can be refined. Good thing is that what he has mastered is a good beginning. Also, a seam doesn't need to be sold, unlike a dig.
