You said it "blocks" . Yes any kick returner needs good blocks 
To get good yardage. But sometimes the perfect blocking or lack of blocks isn't going to be there 
Erickson needs blocks to get any kind of yardage 
But the laser fast returners with great start atop ability 
Can even get positive yards with a block or 2. 
Erickson gets caught from behind and lacks the Jets to smoke guys
