Draft Trade Partners
#1
As with most years, there's already been a lot of talk about trading down.  Due to the cap shrinking next year, I don't think a pick for multiple picks type trade is very realistic.  I do, however, think that with a number of teams in cap hell next year, a pick for a player+pick type trades are very realistic.  A look at some teams that will be in fire sale mode and players that would both potentially interest the Bengals and provide the other club substantial cap relief..

New Orleans Saints($95 mil over per Spotrac)

Ryan Ramcyk/RT-Ramcyk will be in the 5th year option year of his rookie deal.  The Saints are obviously in no position to extend him and in desperate need of cap room.  A Cordy Glenn type trade would make sense for both clubs.  The Saints get $11+ mil in cap space and improved 1st round draft position and the Bengals can afford an extension to lock up their RT of the future.

Marshon Lattimore/CB-Also in his 5th year option year, so a deal for him would follow the same logic as Ramcyk.  If the Bengals  can't come to terms with WJIII, a trade to bring Lattimore back to the Buckeye state would make sense for both sides.

Nick Easton/G-Easton is having a career year with a 69 PFF grade, but this one comes with a lot of risk, as he's been a mediocre/bad starter to this point.  Still, he has 2 years left on his deal, would save NO $6 mil, and might be worth a swap of Day 3 picks.

Philadelphia Eagles ($63 million over per Spotrac)

Zach Ertz/TE-If the Bengals are looking to add a top TE target to the offense, a deal for Ertz would make sense for both teams.  Dallas Goedert has emerged as another TE threat for the Eagles and moving Ertz would save them $5 mil.

LA Rams($17 mil over the cap per Spotrac)

Rob Havenstein/RT-Rob would be 29 entering next year and would have 2 years left on his deal, so the Bengals could wait for the cap to recover some next year before talking extension.  The Rams would save $5 mil.

Houston Texans($12 mil over the cap per Spotrac)

Brandin Cooks/WR-Taylor obviously knows Cooks going back to their days with the Rams.  Cooks would bring some much needed speed to the Bengals WR corps.  Houston would save $12 mil and the Bengals could cut him at any point in his deals remaining three years without a cap penalty due to its structure.
