As much as I wish Haslett was a good option, he just isn't. 

He's had 8 seasons as a DC in the 2000's, and his defenses never finished better than 21st in points allowed. This includes rankings of:

28th 
31st
31st 
31st
21st
21st
22nd
30th
29th

Yikes. Sadly, we have no other obvious candidates, so Haslett's experience would give him a leg up if we went that route.

Austin isn't going anywhere this season though.
The training, nutrition, medicine, fitness, playbooks and rules evolve. The athlete does not.
