John Ross is an absolute bust

On a serious note, why dont they ever do slants with Ross? He is fast supposedly and should be able to get separation. If he cant do that then he is completely worthless to us. 

I think they are afraid that if he did a Crossing route or a slant that he would get killed across the middle
