You're exactly right.  I read an article about him the other day that summed it up perfectly.  He's solid.  You can do a helluva lot worse than solid, and you can do better.  I get criticizing bad performances and the like, but I don't understand the outright hate some have for the guy.  He's been one of the franchise's all time greats, whether people like it or not.
