AJ Green On Playoffs: I Think So
#1
ProFootballTalk points out that, on the team's website, AJ Green stated that he's confident that the team will make the playoffs this year!

What I like is that he's not just being overly optimistic or even that outwardly happy about it because it's more of just a "we gotta go put in the work" type thing:

Quote:Green pointed out that the Bengals were off to a winning start — 5-3 in the first half of the year — in 2018 before injuries to himself and others made contending a pipe dream.

“I think so. We are. If everyone stays healthy, the sky’s the limit for this offense,” Green said, via the team’s website. “Last year, we were averaging [28] points a game . . . We have talent. We have a great back. We have great receivers. We have a great line. We’ve got a great defense. We just have to put everything together and everybody stays healthy.”

A thing that I think a lot of us forget is that we were 4-1 last year and we were beating the Steelers in week 6 with 1:18 to go, they came down the field and scored, beat us, and then the season fell apart. Green pointing that out means that he knows we can get the job done, and the improved roster, healthier players, and new coaches mean that this team can do anything.

Taylor's being a pro here, trying to keep the expectations in check until we actually do something, but he loves the confidence, obviously has the players buying in, and will just keep building the team's chemistry:

Quote:Taylor warned against looking too far ahead, but adds that “we certainly love the confidence” that players have expressed about how 2019 will unfold. Getting the team fully prepared to back up that confidence will be one of Taylor’s chief tasks in training camp.

We gotta stay healthy, and I feel like this team is going to surprise a lot of people, which it shouldn't be a surprise, but we know that we're the red-headed step-child of the NFL.

Here's the full article:

Quote:Bengals running back Joe Mixon said recently that the team’s success is going to shock a lot of people this season.

One person who won’t be shocked is his teammate A.J. Green. Green has talked often this offseason about the new feel and new energy around the team since Zac Taylor became the head coach and he said this week that he believes that will pay off with a spot in the postseason.

It's going to be a great year!

It's been raining for the past few days here in Greater Cincinnati and is supposed to rain for the next two weeks (at least), so I hope that we're using UC's practice bubble.
