Malone is fast but he's not exactly made a lot of deep catches (or hardly any catches for that matter).
Ross is back practicing now with 2 weeks before Game 1, so as long as he doesn't get hurt again before Game 1, I still see him ahead of Malone.
Willis isn't a slouch either when it comes to speed, so he and Ross can fill that deep threat role.
Also, that play-action deep threat won't really matter much if Dalton continues to underthrow deep receivers like he did with Malone in the preseason game.

I'm not saying that it's a guarantee that Malone won't make it but considering him a lock just because he's the fastest out of Tate, Erickson, Core, Morgan, etc. doesn't really make sense either.
