That's my point. At one time, Alexander WAS a good coach. For some reason or another, he just failed to adapt to the new NFL. That, and the debacle of Bodine/Og/Fish were ultimately his undoing.

Yes, as assistant HC, I feel comfortable saying he had a lot more input than your run of the mill oline coach. That was a problem too.

And Fred...... it's largely due to optics. If someone can hang around 20 plus years, and the team was a dog for 10 plus years of that run, and then underperform themselves for the last several years, it sends a bad message to everyone in any organization/business. Also, Dick DID get fired.
