Like the signing.

Erickson replacement indeed; 5/6th WR and there's our PR, by the looks of it.

Does this signal they weren't impressed with the undrafted rookies at WR/PR or just adding another player to the competition?

looks like an overall Downgrade at the spot.  but is likely just a camp body

I think he has a legit shot to be the punt returner but will be in a battle in camp to get the spot.

Taylor is here for filling out the WR Room and special teams. If he winds up starting on the field that means we have an injury problem at WR.

Looking for an Erickson replacement. So fringe roster guy. The guys who are definitely going to make or not make the roster are probably easy decisions. I think the fringe guys are where you need more time than just a minicamp to deliberate if they make the team.

Wide receiver and special teamer Trent Taylor is joining the Cincinnati Bengals.
Taylor is signing a one-year deal with the Bengals, a source told The Enquirer
NFL Network was the first to report the news.
Taylor is entering his fifth year in the NFL. He spent his first four seasons in San Francisco as a member of the 49ers. The Niners drafted him in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
In San Francisco, Taylor totaled 79 receptions for 731 receiving yards and three touchdowns in 41 games. On special teams, he had 49 punt returns for 471 yards.
The Bengals had Taylor in on a tryout basis at rookie minicamp on Friday. The fifth-year veteran could fill Alex Erickson's role with the Bengals. Erickson was a backup slot receiver and return man in Cincinnati for five seasons before leaving for Houston this offseason.
Taylor can be a backup slot receiver and he's a reliable on special teams.

Taylor and Erickson are very similar.

Erickson's best season as a WR was 2019, where he had 43 rec on 78 targets for 529 yards.
Taylor's best season as a WR was 2017, where he had 43 rec on 60 targets for 430 yards and 2 TDs.

As a PR, Taylor has averaged 9.6 YPR on 39 returns.
Erickson averaged 8.0 YPR on 135 returns.

Don't be shocked if Taylor makes the roster as the PR and backup slot guy behind Boyd.

So as a PR, Taylor and Westbrook have right about the same YPR (9.6 for Taylor vs 9.8 for Westbrook).
They should still bring Westbrook in to replace Tate or Thomas, IMO.

He's already confirmed he won't be wearing 18, it was just during his tryout.

Sources also confirm he'll wear a helmet in games and not a backwards hat (I looked at his Twitter, he's a backwards hat guy to the max).

Nah, the 18 is safe for another year.  He is going to wear John Ross's #11 (it is on the website roster)
