This League's A Joke

The defense gave the ball to the offense on the Jets 1 and the 15 on their first 3 drives and they came out of those 3 drives with 7 points and a turnover. I also saw where the offense had the ball, a lead, and then they turned it over on their own 15 for the game deciding points.

Pretending that only one side of the team lost this game is silly. It's not an either/or. They both could have contributed to the loss.

Exactly.

The Bengals were looking for their complete game and had one.

Complete garbage on both sides of the ball.

It's a game of Ws and Ls.

However the amount of yardage given up to an unknown QB.

The lack of offense consistency leading to piss poor yardage and TOP.

This L is turrible !

They played like ass stop blaming the refs. Was an awful call but by no means "cost" us the game.

Horrible call but the Bengals should have not been in this position. Especially with all the turnovers the Jets had made in game.

Team loss, move forward

Team loss..
Bad calls arent going anywhere..
Coaches need to prepare players how to respond
Bad calls are only going to be more apart of games now that legal sports gambling is becoming more available everywhere

I don't like that call, but it's been that way for years. Technically it's not a bad call. Just a shitty rule. The defense sucked today. That's why we lost... And they need to clean the goddamn turnovers up.

If anything I think one of the Jets receiving TDa wasn't a catch, but it's the Jets. We should've stomped em, and we didn't.
I'm gonna break every record they've got. I'm tellin' you right now. I don't know how I'm gonna do it, but it's goin' to get done.

It's technically a bad call because the runner lowered his helmet into Hilton's.

Aside from that, that late in the game, good crews don't bail out teams on tight judgement calls.  That's a game altering call.  You shouldn't be able to look at it and have to ask who actually committed the foul.

However, that's life on the road in the NFL.  The zebras should be accountable, but the coaches and players should be accountable for the previous 58 minutes of poor play.

We all know the Bengals played bad, but that call was terrible and deserves every bit of criticism.

I'm honestly mad as a football fan, It's not fun to have clutch moments decided by crap like that. Especially when it literally looks like every other tackle. They barely discussed it they just went and screwed us on a normal play, it was horrible.

That penalty isn't an excuse for why we lost but our poor game isn't an excuse for that AWFUL call either.

How can he do that better?

It was definitely a bullshit call. Hilton, i don't think, could have possibly gotten any lower and then the RB lowered his head which created the H2H contact.

I'd disagree it cost the Bengals the #1 spot. Their play did that for them.

It did not take any of our points off the board or add any to the Jets.

We just got our ass kicked today.  Refs had nothing to do with it.

The only thing it took from them was a possible punt on 4th down. But that's no guarantee that they tie or take the lead later because they had a chance to do that on the drive before and gave up a sack on 3rd down.

Conjecture and opinion. You have nothing to base that on.

Why didn't they tie or take the lead on the drive before, when they gave up a sack on 3rd down and had to punt?

Besides for the fact that we had momentum, they would have had to punt, and we would have gotten the ball at the 40 with the ability to run anything in our playbook?

Plenty to base it on.

Call was bad but letting the Jets hang around all game and score 30 plus is the loss.

Sure, they would get the ball back without the call, but maybe another INT happens or another 3 and out or maybe they kick a game tying FG or miss it or lose in OT.

Can't let a game be that close against a bad team and be upset about 1 call. Should have handled them soundly, but didn't and in those moments the football gods can be cruel.

The later bad calls are made the worse they are because, while all bad calls affect the outcome there are less plays for a team to make up for the errors that happen towards the end of a game. It's also magnified if the score is closer. Yeah the bengals were up 11 in the 4th. Yeah they threw yet another 4th quarter interception. The Jets played their butts off and their crowd was great.  I know because I came from Boston to see this game.  Despite the fact we played like ass and underestimated them doesn't justify the fact that call was made. We can be mad at the bengals all we want for how they played but they should have had the chance to redeem this game because they had every right to fall on their own gun.

That call was terrible but it certainly wasn't why the Bengals lost.   They lost because for most of the game they got outplayed by the Jets.   Sure it would have been nice to see what the Bengals could have done at the end of the game in a critical moment.  That last chance for the Bengals to have a shot to comeback and tie or win the game was stolen from them.  There was no guarantee they would have taken advantage of that opportunity though.

The Bengals earned that loss for the way they played the entirety of the game (especially on defense) and they should have never been in the position where one bad call would hurt their chances to win anyway.  IMO that deflected pass interception was also a significant contribution to the loss because it gave the Jets a very short field for the go ahead TD.  Had that not happened you could say the Bengals would have been able to score again or run out the clock for the win just as much as you could claim the Bengals would have come back and tied or won the game had that bad penalty not been called.

We can play what-ifs all day long.  But the Bengals lost because the Jets played better than them and not because of one call.

The facts are, we had a shot after that 3rd and 11 stop. That shot was taken away when the refs called helmet to helmet on Hilton.

With that being said, the Bengals should have been better prepared for this team. Everyone knew they would play with nothing to lose. Which is always a recipe for disaster for the opposing team. On to Cleveland. We're better than how we played.

It was a bad call, and I thought until that moment that the Bengals were going to find a way to win, but it didn't cost them the game.  Massive underestimating of an opponent and a vanilla game plan (on defense) did that.

But we still win without that call.

There you go with that bullshit again.

The drive before, they were sacked on 3rd down and had to punt with...what?...just over 2 or 3 minutes left? That's the momentum you are talking about?

But yeah, i'm just disagreeing to disagree... Mellow

Bro.  That 1 play did not cost us the game.  We just got our ass kicked man.
