Use this thread to opine on possible Defense Coordinator candidates for the Cincinnati Bengals.

I know Greg Williams & Jack Del Rio are out there but who else comes to mind?
Marvin Lewis? Lmao
Looking at college coaches:

Don Brown (Michigan)
Brent Venables (Clemson)
Manny Diaz (Miami)
Bob Shoop (Mississippi State)
Del Rio, if he wants to do it.

I thought Lewis did well given all the injuries and taking over mid season...
But Lewis as DC would be a buzz kill...

In all reality we could do a whole lot worse at DC.... I know everyone wants him out of the building, I wanted him gone as HC, and I think having him here would undercut the new coach with the players (not that I think he would intentionally do that), but he can still call a defense.
If Zac Taylor is the next coach, due to his age, it is reasonable to assume the front office of the Bengals would want to bring in an experienced NFL defense coordinator. But I think at this point, the position is wide open and it seems anything is possible.

I can't imagine a more awkward situation, for any organization, than for newly deposed HC to be retained by the same team in a subordinate role.  No, thank you..

Maybe somebody with a LB background who actually is a LB whisperer, not like the previous guy who only played one on TV.

Could it be a defensive assistant somewhere who is ready to move up?

Very well could be a college guy.  They see college offenses week in, week out.  Since the NFL is now running college offenses, it would make sense.

Buckeye homers don't seem to be fans.  That has to say something.

I didn't think he did well with OSU, and there is a lot of talent on that squad.  Plus, he was basically fired.  He caused me many headaches as a Buckeye fan.

Especially giving him an entire off-season to prepare for a single role, not handle an additional one mid-season. But yeah, the bolded is so true

Rod Marianelli's contact in Dallas expires this year. He may be available if the Cowboys decide to promote Kris Richard.

I think Lewis will be a DC for another team.  And will do a decent job.

Nope I don't want anyone who was part of the cover up at Ped State, he can rot in hell with the rest of them

Or better yet, what if the Bengals were able to get Kris Richard as DC?
Excited

Dallas would block that move. Marianelli isn't a bad hire though in terms of scheme and how it could work here.
Im all for jack del rio. But id be reaching out to Chuck Pagano. I know theres alot of hype and excitement over Gregg Williams but his defense ranked 29th last year. We need better than that

You are right. But if the Bengals were able to get Richard, the excitement would probably put me in the hospital.
