So it's a bullshit award for Price, but it's all good for Bates?

Price gets the award almost by default because the only other rookie to play center in 2018 was Mason Cole who was equally bad.

Yes. Price got it by default because of lack of competition.

Bates actually played well, and deserves any recognition he gets.

To be fair, Price was one of two rookie centers in the entire league. Mason Cole was the other one. Price was bad, Cole was worse.
