Jerry was getting beat by scrubs at OT last night. I hope anyone who thought he could fill in adequately as the 4th OT has changed his/her mind.

It really should come as no surprise to anyone.  Jerry was out of the league for a year, and was only a fair to middling player at the apex of his career.  If he was merely brought in as an insurance policy, in case Westerman or Jordan couldn't do the job, then I'd say that he served his purpose.

Bryant deserves a spot, he played as well as the low level veterans. What WR doesnt sound great with the name BRYANT???

I was saying this when we had Peerman as well, dude was atrocious when he was asked to take snaps at running back, but no we couldn't cut him because he was our best special teamer. I'm sure most players when given a chance could contribute to special teams, unless they are completely allergic to basic blocking and tackling.

If he outperforms Malone, Jefferson or whoever else he's competing with on Special Teams then keep him on the roster.

Also, is Jordan Willis safe?

Bryant has yet to play with even the 2nd string QB against a full 2nd team defense  He looks good among 3rd stringers and scrubs.  Would like to see more from him against better players before we anoint him

My surprise cut is Josh Tupou.  Billings and Glasgow aren't going anyplace and Andrew Brown has shown more growth this preseason than just about any player on the defense

I'm not so sure that I believe that, in this day and age.  It seemed like the top offensive units last season were spreading the ball around to many different receivers.  I did a quick search and found this about Drew Brees throwing TDs to 15 different receivers last year.

This is the point a lot of people miss.  Core plays probably 200m snaps a year on special teams.

And people who think special teams are meaningless don't have a clue.  

**EDIT**  Just to be clear I am not a huge fan of Core.  I am not saying he has to make the roster.  I am just poiunting oiut the flaws in some people's arguments.  Special teams players are more important than a lot of people here think.

I have yet to see anyone put up 1 surprise cut. Based on how players played in preseason and those not rookies I would be surprised if these guys make it who were mentioned:

Malone
Core (may be a trade for a 7th round pick as had good camp and is good ST player)
Jerry
Jefferson

To me a surprise cut is someone who most felt had the 53 roster made and then were cut:
Willis
Brown (who had good preseason)

I don't see one, unless someone like these 2 guys above

It wasn't a surprise to me, but some were saying not to bother with a guy like Mills because Jerry can be that 4th OT. Even if it's not Mills, I really hope the team brings in another OT over the next week because they can't go into the season with just Glenn, Hart, and Smith.

Well, in the Tate fans defense, this is only his second year with the team.  He looks poised to make advances with the starting unit this season.  Core is entering his 4th season, and still looks pretty dismal.

I doubt that coaches solely make preseason games the deciding factor for cutting guys since it's hard to really evaluate 1's going against 1's that play decent vs 2's against 2's that look good.

But, special teams are important. I was listening to a show on the radio where Steelers fans wanted some of their LB's cut and the guys point was that special teams are huge and the guys they wanted cut were good on special teams. vs The guys that were kept being depth guys that wouldn't see regular snaps.

It was 189 last year, which was 7th on the team.
He played 227 in 2017, which was 6th most.

It's kind of like how Cedric Peerman made the roster for years because of special teams when he wasn't going to get RB snaps. They even valued him over William Jackson when it came to returning to the roster.
