Sometimes injuries are settled via insurance but i am uncertain how this works since Glenn has been on the 53 man roster.

I think I read earlier this year that insurers are starting to exclude concussion injuries.

Well, this makes no sense since Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy is a big deal and related to recurrence of concussions...

If you have a brain injury that keeps you out for several months then you shouldn’t play again. That’s a severe brain injury. If I’m an owner, I couldn’t let someone return just on risk alone.

<script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>Zac Taylor said LT Cordy Glenn and WR A.J. Green will not play this week.

<script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>This was a different answer from Taylor on Cordy Glenn. In previous weeks, Taylor said he could be cleared any day from concussion protocol. Today, before a single practice, Taylor just answered with a single "No" and moved on.

It seems serious and I know concussions can vary but this has been close to 53 days until available practice . That is long and usually not a good sign in terms of long-term prognosis. I mean think about that for a minute. 53 days...wow.

If for some reason Glenn retires, do the Bengals gain a compensatory pick in the upcoming draft?

No compensatory pick.
I don't know if he'd retire. He'll keep collecting a paycheck until they waive him.

Sure hasn't worked out. Another nail in the o-line coffin. And thus ours.

This is beyond concussion this is deep brain injury and they just aren't saying it. Hope he recovers and retires.

I’m seeing rumors that Glenn is contemplating retirement.

I think that is what is best for him as a person.

A lot of players are making this decision in the age of CTE. I can’t fault them for wanting a functioning brain post playing career.

By next Tuesday it will have been 53 days on protocol. This is quite unusual concussion protocol. I don't remember him getting injured.

Of course he is. A serious brain injury would get anyone's attention. At this point, this is most likely a career-ending injury.
Some posters on the thread have marveled at the length of time Glenn has been unable to practice. I'll relate an anecdote. A friend of my son got a concussion playing Oline in 8th grade at their middle school. Obviously that is a fall sport. He was unable to play sports (of any kind) the rest of that year. His freshman year of high school he skipped fall sports, played rec league basketball in the winter, and went out for baseball. For baseball they gave all the kids some tests for concussions and found that he STILL had concussion symptoms and had to sit out freshman baseball. That was well over a year later! For some people, these can really linger and the best (only) solution is to give up any kind of contact sports. This kid was/is a very good student, so it was a no-brainer (no pun intended) to focus on school.
