CAN the Bengals beat the Patriots? Well, any team CAN beat any team, so sure.

Is it likely that the Bengals beat the Patriots? It doesn't seem like it right now. Brady would abuse our LBs and current safety play.

Does Burfict come back 100%? Is Iloka 100%? Does either team suffer major injury by then? What does each team look like after playing against more contenders?

There's too many question marks right now. This question will be better off IF we get there. There's not even a guarantee that both of these teams make the playoffs (but I'd probably bet on them being there as of right now), anything can happen with 3 more months of football to be played.

They have only played against one defense that's in the top half of the league so far this year. That's only if you consider Buffalo having a good defense (which I think they do, but their 29nd in yards allowed per game, and 14th in points allowed per game).

Well we should have a better idea after this Sunday of how good both Cinci and New England are.

Cowboys suck. They don't have Romo or Dez. It's not even going to be a close game.
Who voted "no"?  The question says "Can" they beat them, not "Will" they beat them?

Edit: I just realized that the thread title and the poll question do not match.  There are asking 2 completely different questions so I don't know how to answer it.
Sure. It isn't like we haven't beat them before.

IMHO, if BOTH teams are at full strength (and for the Bengals that means that VB is back and playing at 100%), the Bengals have a 60/40 chance of winning here and a 30/70 change of winning in Foxborough.

Again, IMHO, the biggest difference between the two teams is preparation and coaching. You KNOW that the Pats would be well-prepared and will come up with some creative, quasi-legal formations, plays, etc. that will confuse the Bengals defense (as they confused Baltimore's last year). The Pats will make extensive adjustments during the game to negate what the Bengals are doing well. Our coaching staff will do none of this.
I think they can beat any team, maybe not 2 of 3 but this isn't baseball so that doesn't matter. Any given Sunday :)

It's not two different questions. If the Bengals are going to get to the Superbowl the path is more then likely going to involve playing New England. So my question was if both teams are playing at the level they are now in the playoffs can the Bengals win?

It's not a given that we even play New England.

Their defense isn't horrible though. So the Pats shouldn't be able to hang 40 on them unless they really are THAT explosive..

The thread title is "CAN the Bengals beat the Patriots".

The poll question is "WOULD the Bengals beat the Patriots".

I believe they can win because any team can beat any other team, I've seen some awfully "bad" teams beating division leaders in the past.

Would they beat them? It's a bit too far away to determine, but both teams as they're built at this very moment without considering guys coming back from injury and whatnot....I'd give the edge to NE but I don't think it would be an obvious blowout. Our team is very good from top to bottom. I do believe we need to see a lot of different variables throughout the next couple of months to really be able to gauge how the Bengals would realistically matchup with the Patriots.

Especially in Foxborough. I'm waiting for tabletgate to strike this year.
