Crazy backlog of players not in and will grow even larger by the time he retires. Popular here, but the selection committee is notoriously tough and his national recognition is so small. Casuals may not know him but know all about Aaron Donald or JJ Watt. Not saying he is not deserving, saying the table is too small for someone who plays in a small market, for a team that has as many playoff wins as trips I've taken to Mars. Can put 50 players who should be in, add the ones who will retire before and at the same time and he won't outshine them, in the mind of the voters.

Are the recent vets grumbling the first sign of losing the locker room?

Last week, Dunlap upset about demotion
Last game, Green upset about benching
This week, Phillips and S. Williams upset about playing time

Doesn’t sound like a “winning culture” being cultivated in Cincy.

It's clear what he's saying. I give him the benefit of the doubt, in that, he could mean 'why sign me if you're not going to use me when you could just trade me and both sides get something they need'. He obviously didn't say all those words but that's the angle that no one brings up. I don't see him saying 'i'm not happy, trade me' as much as he's confused why you sign him to that much money and then don't use him.

100% there are better head coaches, coordinators, position coaches, specialists, etc than are working for the Bengals.  But is one actually available now?  Why put an interim HC in to generate more turmoil and potentially be an entirely new set of of schemes just to almost guaranteed do it again in the off-season?  The stats are out there for how well interim coaches do.  It's a knee-jerk decision with little payoff.  If ZT hits a 2-3 win season here and shows no more improvement, fine, fire him.  I'm on board.  But asking for him to be fired before the halfway point of the season?  What concrete benefit is there to that? 

I'm willing to give Simmons a shot at this point. Special Teams has been a bright spot for many years. Dude could be Doug Maroone 2.0.

I'm suprised he doesn't have more pull in the organization with how long he's been around.

Maybe, but if that’s the case, they shouldn’t be here. Keeping them around and causing this disgruntled locker room is on “Zac Turner”.

Simmons is always an interesting wildcard in any discussion.  He's been here 17 years and hasn't gone elsewhere or really been looked at for the HC spot.  Kinda makes you wonder why.  I don't think it's because the org is holding him back, considering his success in his role and how other coaches get poached or promoted left and right.  

Can't say I've really followed closely over the years interest from other teams or anything the insiders have said about whether he's just settled into this role and city or wants something different, but he sure comes up as a fan recommendation pretty often. 

If Burrow had pulled an Elway/Eli, not many would have blamed him.

Disgruntled, unhappy, angry, dysfunctional, pissed, however you want to label it or spin it ? It's obvious to anyone who isn't in full blown kidding themselves mode, this team isn't in a happy place right now.

Now am I running down the street naked screaming the sky is falling ? NO

But to me I believe it's more than obvious some change and moves are needed.

Over all the years with Pickens, Spikes, Dillon, Palmer, etc., I can't recall ever a year when there's been so much public grumbling by the players.  I think the team is in real trouble and I think if ZT is losing/has lost the locker room, why burn another 10 games on him?  

I don't like where the team is heading nor do I believe they're "trending upwards".

Watching Burrow's post-game interview after the Colts game, he appears to be irritated about something.  It could be about the pick he threw, but let's just hope it's not about a poisoned locker room.

There's really not that much grumbling. Dunlap is grumbling because he lost his starting gig... his fault for not performing.
Phillips is grumbling basically because Alexander has returned and took his spot back. Ross is Ross, always someone else's fault. AJ had a bad week, but is back and he and Atkins will be right back on board as their snaps go up. So, basically Carlos....

I just gotta wonder what Taylor's saying in the locker room after these losses.

"We're trending in the right direction!"
"We're a few plays away from being undefeated!"
"If we close our eyes and cross our fingers, the wins will magically start coming!"

How much longer will full-grown adult men buy into empty buzz phrases?
