About a decade before that I was stationed in the 82nd Airborne. 8 out of every 24 weeks we had to be on constant recall. I was cutting edge with a pager and a quarter for the payphone.

I got my first cell phone right around that time.  It was strictly to be used for if my car slid off in to a ditch and was completely immobolized, or if somehow I managed to end up in a Camp Crystal Lake environment.

Did anybody ever page you for weed with *911 after it just to let you know they really wanted it and needed that shit fast.

Surprisingly no. Nobody paged me for weed when I was in the military.

That same friend of mine had a pager he'd have with him when his ol' man dropped him off at my house when we were 11 or 12 or so and he'd get a page when his ol' man was on the way to pick him up.  Wacky.

To relate this to complaining about the Bengals...pagers were cutting edge and overly-fancy technology years after the Bengals' most recent playoff win.
