Okay, this is very obscure, but a "Hobson's Choice" is a situation where there really is no choice. The most famous "Hobson's Choice" is "Take it or leave it."

Pretty sure he's just quoting the song, which basically says (as far as I've ever understood it) there are so many approaches to life and how we react to it, but "choosing" freewill instead of just saying everything is pre-determined or left to chance and applying your own input to your own life.

I'd rather debate Rush lyrics than talk about Hobson, even though this thread is off the rails to begin with!

I get it.

Make someone believe it's an "either or" situation but there really is only one choice.

I had a feeling someone would be goofy in my attempt to quote RUSH.
