It's totally different. Snaps on punts and FGs are done with two hands, whereas a shotgun snap is one handed. The ST long snap has to be precise, is a longer snap, and with a much flatter trajectory. The shotgun snap is higher, and just needs to be in the general vicinity of the QBs hands. I did a little of both in high school, so I'm not sure why guys that play center at this level don't do it. I guess because it gets more specialized the higher the level of play.
