'CINCINNATI — The Bengals signed wide receiver Tyron Johnson and defensive end Owen Carney to their practice squad on Tuesday.
Johnson has 23 receptions for 422 yards and three touchdowns in 26 career games. He's known for his deep speed and is averaging 18.3 yards-per-catch.
He's played for the Chargers, Jaguars, Raiders and Texans.
Carney is a rookie from the University of Illinois. He was waived by the Dolphins during final cuts after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent April.'
Johnson has outstanding speed 4.34 40 time..
Could see Johnson being serviceable if needed.

Wow. Not bad footage! Wonder how they let him go when their WRs have been turd soup?
Clearly, this guy will start over Boyd and Higgins, and eventually push Chase out of a job.
Seriously. Nice find!

He has requested to take Chases's jersey number and it looks like a done deal.

I mean, CLEARLY, they think TWO Chase's on the field will be better than one and this guy is a Chase clone.

Mike Brown has asked for decimal points to be allowed so Chase can be 1.5
What happened to this kid last year? He looked pretty damn good.
Doubt he plays much, but one thing we do lack when Chase is out is that downfield speed. Idk if he can don anything else, but he certainly can do that.
The comments on the video tell the story. First it was Raiders fans declaring him to be the deep threat they needed, then it was the Jaguars fans saying he will be catching deep balls from Herbert. He obviously has the speed to stretch the field, so is it not enough football smarts to grasp the playbook then?

Love the Tyron Johnson add obviously. Nice addition there.

Nice highlights. You don't usually get a player that talented this time of the year, I don't remember a time as a Bengal fan.
Must not have football smarts or somethin' as Sled is sayin'. We will see if he can contribute down the road. Still, one thing
Trenton Irwin has besides glue hands is football smarts, doubt Tyron is elevated unless we have an injury. Big time upgrade
over Mike Thomas though as a WR for sure.

From everything I've read, the reason he can't stick on a roster is that he offers no versatility as a back end player. He's can't block, he doesn't play special teams (wasn't very good with the few kick returns he had either) and is basically a one dimensional player...vertical speedster.

So basically, a John Ross that can catch....

Not even really a guy that can catch.
In his scouting profile, drops were a concern.
Definitely a worse prospect than John Ross.
The upside or these signings, which filled all the open spots on the practice squad, is it means that Mike Thomas isn’t coming back
