Full Version: Draft capital

I honestly believe that we are still falling short in one way that other modern front offices operate. We do not convert any soon to be high priced talent into draft capital…

I understand that we cannot retain all of our talent, but without extra picks… You cannot afford to miss on your draft picks. And everyone misses on some draft picks.

I wonder if this will ever become part of our strategy?

I don't know that it's commonly done in the NFL in general.
Playoff teams don't trade away good players because their contracts are ending soon. They are trying to win it all every year.
I agree that winning teams don’t get rid of talent if they can retain it, but there are tough financial decisions to make and the ability to fill in tier one and tier two talent positions with up and coming rookies only occurs if your stable is full.

We simply don’t have enough picks to account for the players we are losing and the contracts we may be giving to QB and WR… the math doesn’t work out in our favor.
