The Bengals exercised Joe's 5th year option. If you are surprised you arent a fan.

No-brainer. Thanks for the update.

Big jump from this year to nearly $30 mil. Extension won't kick in until 2025, absent signing bonus proration.

This doesn't mean they aren't working on a deal. Just means they are locking in 2 more years and why wouldn't they.

Hopefully this does not mean problems in getting the extension done.

Mahomes and Allen both had their options picked up before getting their deals done in July and August.

I have no idea why you say "not good". It's what they do. The Chiefs exercised it on Mahomes, The Bills did it with Allen.

Maybe Tony thinks it's a mistake to pick up his 5th year. Now we're stuck with him for a minimum of 2 more years while they work out an extension. 

Hell we could have taken Henden Hooker at 28 and let him rehab this year while Joe plays his last year and then be done with him

Or just go right to Stetson Bennett since he's a winner.

This is expected. Other than the hope that Burrow was going to get a super team friendly deal done ASAP, there is no reason to think he's going to negotiate now when the market seems to just keep going up and he may damn well be the SB MVP and the only QB to win a SB for the Bengals a year from now.

We have exercised QB Joe Burrow’s fifth-year option for the 2024 season.

This is a mechanical step along the way and we will continue to work with Joe and his representatives to secure his long-term future as a Bengal.

He'll be extended before the season starts. Most rookie QB extensions don't get done till June or later.

It is good. You get the extra year at a discount. Any extension will be the extension plus the 5th year option. It’s logical and correct.
