To my understanding the difference between the sides is only 10 million per year - I wonder why the Chiefs have not just done it?

I can envision a difference of $10 million annually throwing a wrench into negotiations.

10 mil a year is a BIG difference.

Because he's already under contract and they can't afford to pay him that much more.
