Just a heads up to all my fellow headbangers here…
Cradle of Filth and Danzig are coming to the Cincinnati area in May. I highly recommend you go, CoF puts on a VERY badass set and Danzig is well…Hellvis. Who doesn’t wanna see Hellvis?! [emoji869]
Here's another entry into the "Did not see that coming" category.
Two Swedish brothers, more known for their work with Yngwie Malmsteen, Stratovarius, Hammerfall along with stints in Dio and Rainbow, combine with legendary guitarist Allan Holdsworth to put out a fusion inspired album.
So I’m now starting to try to get into 90s rock. Nothing big like buying anything or submerging myself. More like I’ll turn on XM Lithium in the car. I’m not completely ignorant of the decade. My wife listened to Pop stations and such in the car so I know a lot of the major songs. I consider Far Behind one of the great songs in rock. I like a couple Nirvana songs and Pearl Jam songs. I like a lot of Marchbox 20 songs. Now the stuff I like would probably be laughed at by old school grunge guys. It’s be like saying I love Zep because Stairway to Heaven.
Local PBS fundraiser, which I'm guessing is Florida, hosting Extreme Death Metal band Deicide shortly before changing their name and recording their debut album. Hearing Suicide Sacrifice always puts people in the spirit of giving, it just usually involves an elbow.
Some young Japanese ladies doing a damn good job on the classic Helloween song.
Edited to add another.
Great little homage to the original where the girls start off playing air instruments, just like Journey did in the video and the drummer threw on a comically fake mustache in tribute to Steve Smith.
First gig at the Whiskey A Go Go . . . much heavier.
A little late on this but Amon Amarth just dropped “The Great Heathen Army” and the tour will be hitting the Andrew J in Cincinnati in November. Should be a good time, these guys always bring it!
