Yes, he can improve. I think everyone HOPES he does. But he will not be good until he PROVES on the field that he is good over an appreciable sample size. Until then, he sucks.
For this offense, a lot is required from the WR3. Boyd averaged 96 targets per year during the Burrow years. Yoshi is on pace for 58, and arguably doesn't even deserve that many. 17 of his 24 Targets came the first three weeks of the season. He is not capable of fulfilling the WR3 role in this offense at this point. That much is painfully obvious. Given his draft status, the chances that he will ever develop to the point where he can adequately fulfill that role are remote, and he has shown nothing to give any unbiased person the idea that he will.

Kupp can't stay healthy. I just don't see the coaches undermining any of these young guys confidence here in Cincy. They're trying to mold these young players not tear them down.

I understand the FO mindset of seeing if younger players develop. That said, it’s been 7 games. It’s ok to be wrong, and in this case… the opportunity cost is not big. Hell, they could be in a better spot, financially, than if they had resigned him (to a likely larger deal than he got).
At $141,000/game, his rest of season salary is $1.5m. The bengals could easily absorb that. This would take care of WR3, in the short term.
I’d also look around for a CB and potentially RB.

As of now, I don't think that he would produce much as a starter. He does well at defeating the initial block from the tackle, but looks like he's got sand in his boots when pursuing QBs, and get knocked off line easily when he should have a straight shot at the QB.

To me, I'd eyeball Cooper Kupp. The Rams are reportedly willing to pick up a chunk of his salary if he's traded and he has 2 years left on his contract after this one. That would make losing Tee a lot less of a dire proposition, in addition to being a massive upgrade this year.

You can get past that, he would be a get worth getting.
Also proven to be a capable 1/2 so would help as an inhouse insurance policy.

Either way, we're looking at shelling out big money for Tee or another WR2 or basically being "WR or bust" in the 1st next year, neither of which is a great option. Trading for Kupp also gives us the advantage of not having to escrow the vast bulk of the guaranteed money for a player of his caliber. And, you've got the rest of the year of one of the most frightening WR trios ever assembled.
Aggressive? Certainly. All in? Definitely. But are we that concerned about a cap crunch next year if we win a Lombardi this year?

Good riddance he's gone? The best blessing in disguise we've had in years? That's some cold and disrespectful shit for a guy who was an absolute professional and very productive for us for years.
I'm not saying Boyd's best days are ahead of him, they're likely not, but there's going to be a time when Higgins gets dinged up (he always does) and you're going to have Chase, a 3rd round rookie, and a 6th round pick with 116 career receiving yards out there at WR... or Chase, Irwin, Sample, and a TE who had 244 yards last year and 362 yards the year before.... and you should remember this thread then.
Also people acting like Boyd force's Zac's hand in offensive concepts as if the first 2 years of Zac without Chase he didn't do the exact same shit. Or the first year without Chase OR Higgins we didn't still run a primarily 3 WR offense with a combination of Boyd, Ross, A Tate, and Erickson despite that being a trashpile of a WR group. But sure, it's Boyd's fault and now we're free from his tyranny of dictating how Zac's offense will be.
