It makes sense for the NFL to showcase the longest running comedy (since 1989) on a Monday night game close to Christmas for families to watch together.
But enough about the Bengals, I'm trying to figure out why the Simpsons are involved.

I'm probably one of the few people who have never watched a complete episode of The Simpsons.
I do know my Dad's hometown (Springfield, KY) was once in a contest to be the Simpson Springfield.
Bengals vs Cowboys is The Underachievers Bowl.
The Simpsons tie-in is fitting as the game will feature 2 HCs who are real life Homer Simpsons

I get that times change, but I think it's just as simple as Family Guy being so popular that they had to turn the Simpsons into a similar off the wall, less realistic show, and turn Homer into a Peter Griffin style clownish lunatic.
