Full Version: Daniel Jeremiah's Pre-Senior Bowl Mock
You're currently viewing a stripped down version of our content. View the full version with proper formatting.
Daniel Jeremiah's mocks are always fun because he is really good at predicting which players go a little higher than people are expecting.

A list of a few surprises:
#10 G Tyler Booker (Bears)
#11 OL Armound Membou (49ers)
#14 CB Jahdae Barron (Colts)
#27 CB Azareye'h Thomas (Ravens)
#32 James Pearce Jr (Chiefs)

Bengals select DT Walter Nolen at #17.

Quote:Nolen is a dynamic interior disruptor. He would be a key part of a turnaround under new Bengals defensive coordinator Al Golden.

Most Bengals fans probably haven't heard the interview thing about Nolen and started complaining why we always get a character risk mocked to us.
I can't remember who affiliated with or covering the Bengals at the time said it, but this is what was said to prioritize position-wise when it comes to having talent in a 4-3 defense:
Tier 1: DE1, CB1, 3T, WLB
Tier 2: FS, CB2, DE2
Tier 3: NT, MLB
Tier 4: SLB/SCB

NT one could argue goes higher if you can find a NT who is enough of a difference maker from the typical NT, but at the time I heard that, the NT (Peko) was being used just a 2-down run stopper and subbed out in nickel.

Really speaks to the WR class. Couple of future Slot heavy WRs at #24 & #25 in Matthew Golden and Emeka Egbuka

Edit: Draft Day!!

Bumping an old DJ Thread.

Jay Glazer recently said in this tweet that teams are taking guys off their board because they may not love football. I probably would have ignored the comment if Daniel Jeremiah hadn't released his final first round mock last night and it didn't include Walter Nolen, James Pearce Jr, Mike Green, or Will Johnson. Green and Johnson are likely not included for other factors but Nolen and Pearce could fit what Jay Glazer mentioned.

No Walter Nolen, James Pearce, Mike Green, or Will Johnson.

Apparently the Bengals are the team that did the most homework on Mike Green. He didn't have any top 30 visits.

Yeah who knows if he’s right or not. Like they say all it takes is one team loving a guy for him to get picked in the first round. I just hope some of these guys slide to the Bengals second round pick.

If Campbell goes to the Eagles you just know he’s going to end up being an All Pro.
I did not want him before but I really wouldn’t mind him being the Bengals pick at 17.
I think it's absolutely crazy that the Bengals didn't at least interview Campbell.
I had seen something on Twitter this morning that this draft is expected to go heavily based on fit for teams rather than clear BPA.
It had mentioned that many teams are not concerned with picks being perceived as a "reach" given they don't see much difference in the talent for this draft class and fit will heavily influence who they take and when.

Have to wonder if the Bengals are doing their homework in case one or more of these guys falls to the second or beyond.

Maybe. It only takes one team to like these guys even with the issues. Walter Nolen is still getting alot of top 10 buzz today. Will Johnson might be the scariest of the bunch with foot & knee injury history going all the way back to high school.
