The Rams are a team that drafts well. I thought that when we snagged Zac off of McVey's staff that perhaps our draft quality might improve.
Great read. Thank you for sharing it. We have been terrible drafting in the trenches.

Other teams have real scouting departments who do a lot of that work for them so HCs can primarily focus on being HCs.
The Rams have 13 people with the word "Scout" in their title plus another 7 people currently in their Scouting Apprenticeship program.
....also Zac was there for all of 2 years, 1 of them as Assistant WR Coach.

please stop criticizing mike brown. He keeps football in cinncinati
We're actually the best by WAR in the first round in the last 5 years though... Fwiw. 2020 and 2021 were basically all it took.

Last time I remember hearing NFL WAR mentioned was when it tried to say that Russell Wilson was the 2019 MVP even though Lamar had a 113 QB Rating, led the NFL in TD passes, and rushed for >1200 yards to make his team be 14-2 with the #1 scoring offense.
Then Lamar obviously won unanimously regardless and I legitimately don't think I had heard about WAR (in the context of football) since.
It's a hilariously useless stat. It tries to say that LaDanian Tomlinson's MVP season where he rushed for >1800 yards and caught >500 yards with 31 total TDs was worth
LESS THAN 1/10th of the WAR of Matt Ryan's MVP season.

I really don't even understand how it works. I'd just read an article ranking the top 5 and bottom 5 in the first round the day before this thread was started.

It's just really really bad.
It said that us signing Mike Gesicki was a more valuable addition than the Ravens signing Derrick Henry and juuuuust shy of TWICE as valuable as the Eagles signing Saquon Barkley.
The 5 biggest "losers" in FA last season from a WAR perspective were...
Ravens
Commanders
Broncos
Vikings
Texans
...all 10+ win playoff teams.

I think the only thing we got was to suck enough to draft Joe Burrow...unless and until Zac wins a SB, I put all the success on Joe and all the failure on Zac, lol.
