Even in consideration to both acute and lingering in juries to burrow...starting tackles..tee higgins...key defensive starters...team has gone 40-27 the past 4 years..if I am correct this is the ninth best winning percentage in the NFL over said time....good job Tobin..Zac and the Brown family

It’s really not. 9-8 in a 17 game season is about the equivalent of 8-8 before. And they were extremely lucky to face some absolutely terrible QB’s to even get that record (D. Jones, DTR,
Rush, Rudolph, etc.)

What’s actually quite remarkable is that we had the passing leader, Triple Crown winner, and sack king all on the same team and still somehow managed to miss the playoffs in a 3 wildcard format. That’s some truly impressive shit wrt how badly the rest of the team was built.

If you're underpaid it's one thing. If you're adequately compensated, it's another. 

Trey is under contract this year and underpaid because of a 1 year extension he chose to sign.  I am not sympathetic at all to a guy that's saying he's underpaid on his third NFL contract, second since becoming an UFA. If he wanted more money, he should have negotiated for more in his extension.  

I'm usually more sympathetic to guys that come in on slotted rookie contracts that never really got a chance to negotiate.  Or players being strong armed because of the grossly unfair FT.  

Trey is underpaid, because frankly, he and his agent are bad at business and negotiations.

Trey made the mistake of trusting the front office to do something they don't do. That's certainly on him. Them being cheap isn't and taking advantage of a situation isn't.

And over the past two years, Bengals are tied for 15th, right middle of the pack.
The Bengals have a downward trajectory since their 2021 Super Bowl run.
The worry by some (most?) fans is are the Bengals trending downward just because of injuries, or is it because they have continually lost key guys in FA and haven't done a good job backfilling them across the past couple seasons?

It's no secret this past offseason has been "unexciting," to be nice.
Their big FA additions were a run-stuffing NT (Slaton) and an IOL who hadn't been a planned Day 1 starter at OG since 2020 (Patrick).
Their early draft picks were a highly boom-or-bust DE (Stewart) and 2-down LB (Knight).
Their biggest offseason moves have been trying to keep their own talent, which doesn't make the team better, just helps keep it closer to the same as it was.

The Bengals may prove people wrong and these additions may really elevate them back into a (deep) playoff run, but until we see them perform on the field, it's ok to be unexcited.

See my post in the Trey thread, it debunks your Trey was screwed when he extended after his 8 sack 2022 season. You said FO screwed up and did not save millions when they did not sign Jamar in 2024, yet the Bengals extended Trey for a fair contract saving the team millons and you keep beating the cheap drum.

Look back at his stats after 2022 and tell me how the Bengals were cheap. You can't because it is nt true based on factual data. Maybe just on etime take off the Bengals FO glasses and look closely at all circumstances in 2022, 

I think if you do, you will see Trey was coming off 8 sack season, has never played. full season and was trending downward after his great 2020 and 2021 seasons in 2022. Bengals rewarded him and now you want to basj them for it.

So looking at Trey's production, was he treated unfairly by the FO when they did not have to, but did offer him an extension? He has injury history and did not have a great 2022 season, yet Bengals extended him ayway in good faith in my opinion.

There's a proverb that goes something along the lines of "Do not answer a fool according to his folly...". I'm gonna take that advice. 

I wonder why some fans hate Trey so much?

Fact: The Bengals have had one of the best records in the last 4 years with Trey Hendrickson finishing in the top 3, behind Watt and Garrett, for sack leaders during those 4 years.

That’s just a tad too negative. I can’t refute much lol. The Bengals are trending downward because the defense sucked due to poor drafting and FA signings. I don’t know how much was Lou’s fault. Staton looks to be a good addition. It’s evident they are focusing on stopping the run. Knight had a great combine and had some great games in college vs OU & Bama.Hes good at TFL & causing fumbles. We weren’t keeping Pratt. He pooped in somebody’s cheerios. We had to get a replacement. At some point they have to build a payroll that has players on rookie deals. Stewart may not have had many sacks in college but a ton of disruptions. He too played good in important SEC games. When the draft came re-signing Trey looked like a long shot. Fairchild and Patrick are very good at pass blocking. In Patrick’s last 1592 pass block snaps only 4 sacks. Fairchild gave up 1 sack at UGA in 2 seasons against great competition. I also think our OL depth exceedingly better. I think Chase Brown, Gesicki, and Isovias reach a higher level. Burton looks locked in finally. 

The defense is a worry. I’m hearing they are happy with the all the drafted players. No it doesn’t look like a SB roster but ‘21 wasn’t either. I guess we will see but I can see some of the frustration by posters.

What exactly don't they do?

Taking advantage of what situation?  The fact that Trey agreed to a contract?  They have discussed an extension with him with a large pay increase.  They don't agree on money.  Trey wants paid based on his current performance and the team wants to pay based on what he will likely be worth as father time takes it's toll.  Both are valid points of view and the eventual agreement likely is in the middle.

If anyone honestly believes the club told Trey "sign this one year extension for a lesser increase and we will make you a Top 5 paid edge rusher before that extension year kicks in"...like, what are you smoking?  Why would the team not just pay him then?  Why would Trey agree to something that makes no damn sense?

I don't get the sense they hate Trey. I do get he sense that Trey is not home grown talent and that does make a difference in fans....I guess emotional investment in him as a Bengal.

If you want to call me a fool, call me a fool versus using theatrics.

There are cases to use the Bengals cheap as a narrative, but you failed to do so once facts were pretending instead using deflection.

Show us how Bengals were cheap after Trey's 8 sack season in 2022 by giving him an extension. You can't or you would have gave a direct response versus giberish.
