They ranked roster talent and the Bengals came out 9th - not bad.
However, they show the projected starting guards as Ford and Volson.

Never know what can happen but they went 0 for 2 on the guards.

That’s why people rag on espn. They get basic things wrong and several reporters contributed to this.

Also surprised they had Denver that high and the 49ers at 10…

Get used to it. Denver is the hot pick this year for everyone. I don't see it.
ESPN used to be a pretty good sports outlet. They've deteriorated into the shock jock realm, ignore them.

Well they are a division of Disney, fantasy has always been their forte.  Ninja
Considering where we are in the season, that guess is as good as any
Not necessarily specific to ESPN, but my favorite thing from “mainstream” sports media is how Joe Burrow supposedly gets carried by the talent around him.

Then every once in a while you’ll see pro bowler and All Pro accolade numbers by each team and it’s quite the disparity compared to the darlings.

But yeah, ESPN is absolute garbage and gets no viewership out of me unless it happens to be a game I want to watch.

It is interesting to me they say we have the 9th best roster and 1 or 2 of the OG's may be better than the starters listed.

Also interesting as many fans say we have the worst FO in football so how the jeck does anyone project our roster top 10?  Sarcasm
annoyed me best non QB was Myles Garrett that player is obviously Jamarr Chase
One part that interested me:

Quote:2. Philadelphia Eagles
Biggest strength: Offensive tackle. The defending champs have many strengths, but it's tough to beat arguably the league's top tackle duo, with Jordan Mailata manning the left side and Lane Johnson on the right. Mailata ranked among the top tackles in PFF grade, pass block win rate and run block win rate in both 2023 and 2024. Johnson is 35 years old but hasn't lost a step, ranking top 10 among tackles in pass and run block win rate last season. -- Clay

Jordan Mailata was a 7th rounder in 2018. Which is just a reminder that talent can be found anywhere in the draft. You have to be good at identifying and developing that value though, and it does take time. It took three years for Mailata to really even see the field. It helps if the fans keep a somewhat open mind. And of course their style of offense works for the offensive line they have (bruising running game).

None of that is to say that someone like Jackson Carman was a good pick. But someone like Matt Lee might be our future Center. I still wonder if kicking Karras out to Guard might give us a our best lineup. At least it could give Lucas Patrick some additional competition.

Idk, I think that asking Karras to carry the water at Guard might be a bit of a disservice to him at this point in his career. He's not getting any younger and has been showing his age when covered by odd defensive fronts.

They made the playoffs last year with a rookie QB who flashed. HOF head coach. Really, really good defense. How do you not see it?

Right. It's honestly Volson and Cody Fords job to lose at the moment.

Fiarchild probably over takes Volson, but Ford will most likely be opening day starter. Not sure what we are complaining about.

Well that’s how the season ended. Volson has started what 3 years? He’s not going to be supplanted yet by a rookie. Patrick is a free agent pickup. Projected is different.

1. Their schedule.
2. Their QB (super mid and overrated)
3. I don't expect their D to be as strong (this one could end up wrong).
4. Tough division.
5. They got spanked by all but 1 legit good team last year and bombed in the playoffs.
6. Sean Payton is overrated.
espn is pretty dumb alright. Lucas Patrick will be the starting RG once he is fully healthy and should be an upgrade over Cappa.

Fairchild is the LG and has been impressing everyone. We will be better this season on the OL just how much better is the question.

Agree with Rfaulk that the Broncos are overrated.
I mean is anyone on our roster really that much better to make it obvious? A 3rd round rookie? A journeyman Patrick? There are better FAs sitting out there right now that all the OGs on our roster. For real. At least 4 that are
A lot of media talking heads have superficial, regurgitated opinions and are plain lazy.
