An interesting trade to revisit. Encarnacion was traded for Scott Rolen. Reds got about 3 years out of Rolen, and Encarnacion, at 33, is still going strong. He is over 40 HR's this year, 120 RBIs. Not a great fielder though.

At first base, he is indeed a great fielder; Smoak is just much better (but deplorable with the bat, since mid-May). Nice try.

JP Ricciardi may have made questionable calls in terms of FAs, but he had one constant and that was absolutely fleecing people in trades.

And I hate Scott Rolen, so I was super happy we got rid of him for a guy who has arguably had a better career, in his prime (Rolen the miles-better career before the prime, though).
