I think the big change for Hunt was moving inside to tackle. Simplifies the game for him and he doesn't have to worry about contain, which was his biggest problem playing at end.

Clarke has to be the most improved player on the entire team if you ask me. He's been in the QB's face every game. Its great to see him come into his own. Apparently he still hasnt hit his ceiling.

I don't know. Remember when Gilberry had 6.5 sacks and then 7.5 sacks and the Bengals gave him a starting role the next year? And he just wasn't a good starter.

Clarke may just be a rotational player like Gilberry is. I think the Bengals NEED to draft a pass rushing defensive end next year. Clarke and Hunt have both done well through these few games, but don't forget they're coming in with fresh legs against an offensive line that has gone against the likes on Dunlap and Atkins all game.

That may be the case. But I don't think you blow a high pick until you know. What if Clarke is everything MJ should have been? Then you used a high pick on a back up. 

Really think Clarke will be a starter. Think the kid is showing to much for the coaches to ignore, even with their veteran loyalty.  What's he have 3 sacks in 4 games? He at least deserves a shot to prove him self as a starter, if he keeps going at this rate.

Also think hunt might have  finally caught on. Will be great keeping a pass rush if carlos is taking a breather

I think it helps a bit when they're all playing next to the best DT in football, but I've been impressed with Clarke lately

He's finally healthy and getting enough reps to be comfortable. He said in one of his interviews he was trying to play "perfect" and not mess up before, and it was slowing him down. Now, with more reps he's more comfortable and just playing. And when he is inside.....good grief he can push that pocket right back into the QB's face. I tend to focus on his play because I have been one of his supporters all along. He is finally playing to his potential. Clarke is having an awesome year so far as well. And, the best thing about this is, with these young guys playing so well in their rotational roles, they will be pushing the "starters" to perform lest they be replaced.  As much as I want the offense on the field scoring points, the defense is more fun to watch....

Agree with you.  Moving Hunt down to DT was the best thing that could have happened to him.  This list of responsibilities for an interior lineman is much shorter than that of an end, allowing him to simply focus on beating his man and wreaking havoc without any hesitation.

What I think we are seeing with Clarke is the combination of a player maturing into his body, along with the benefit of some better coaching.  I was pretty harsh on both of these guys in preseason, really happy that their play is making me eat my words.

Just a few weeks ago the bengals coaches were all stupid for keeping Hunt and Clark on the roster because Blechick would never have kept them.

Geno and Dunlap are the 2 best on every snap they are on.

Starting is an over-rated concept. I don't care who walks on the field for the first defensive snap. Our DL uses a rotation. As long as Clarke's snaps increase in that rotation it is a move in a good direction. Hell, they can wheel MJ out for the first snap for the next three years, then bring in Clark for the rest of them and call MJ the starter for all I care. Just bring the younger guy along appropriately is all I ask. I think they are doing that. There is a trust factor to make the right plays and be in the right spots that MJ has an that Clarke is still developing. I think the coaches do see what we do and will make the right calls in games.

Marvin is loyal to a point, Mike Brown is the one signing the checks, therefore money will always play over talent. Something that will never change as long as Mike is in control of the team.

They did the very same thing with Carlos Dunlap. The difference being Carlos was outperforming Geathers half way through his rookie year. Clark took a while to show something. I'm with you... Who cares who is on the field to start the game?
