Those 0-16 season will get you every time. No surprise both are the two worst.

Weird thing is all 4 of those ties are from 2008-present.

From 1978-2007 they had 0.

Some quick math tells me without Marvin's years, they had a .376 winning %. Far and away dead last, but I imagine if you took each teams best regular season coach out of there, there'd still be a couple worse.

EDIT: The Cardinals minus Bruce Arians' just 5 years as HC would be at .380, so barely better.

It is kind of strange how we moved on from the coach with the best win percentage in Bengals history to the coach with the worst.

"At least we're not as bad as the Browns, Lions, and a couple other teams!" - Mike Brown, probably
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

Interesting

Bengals in Paul Brown portion of the 16 game season.
91 wins, 102 losses for a 0.472 which is between the Rams and the Raiders.

Mike Brown's portion of the 16 game season era is:
199 wins 284 losses 4 ties or 0.412 which is a notch down barely beats the Cardinals.

Break it down a little

16 game era under Paul Brown ('78-'90)... .490 (17th of 28)
16 game era under Mike Brown ('91-'20)... .404 (30th of 32)

and further

Mike Brown with Marvin Lewis... .518 (16 of 32)
Mike Brown with other HCs....... .274 (dead last I assume)

I counted '91 as Mike Brown.  I assume that is why our numbers are different.

Ah, I didn't read much of the thread, but I see we were both thinking the same thing. LOL

I believe your numbers are better and 91 does belong to Mikey boy.

They had to move on from Lewis. It was something that had to happen. The two problems were they didn't move on early enough, and when they finally did move on, they made a terrible hiring.

Personally I thought after '13 they needed to move on from Lewis. They lost to an inferior Chargers team for their third straight first round loss, and it had been 11 years and it was pretty clear it wasn't going to happen. That was the perfect time to let Zimmer take over so he didn't leave the team, and go out and grab a veteran OC while the window was still wide open for that group.

Not that I intended for this thread to turn into a Lewis/Zimmer/etc thread. Lol

Donavon McNabb doesn't look so stupid after all then...
I'm gonna break every record they've got. I'm tellin' you right now. I don't know how I'm gonna do it, but it's goin' to get done.

We are basically the Lions of the AFC. 22 more wins over the span of 40+ years isn't much, and our playoff win droughts are the laughingstock of the league. At least the Lions dumped Millen after awhile. We're stuck with the Brown family.
