Heck we scored the most points this season. If we scored 31 points every game this year we would be undefeated. Jets are the first team to score 25 or more. So how is this an offensive issue. Sure they looked flat and out of sync a lot but damn it’s the freakin Jets with backups starting everywhere. Hope we learn to tackle before the Browns. Looked like the Bengals of old with their Monty Python arms straight to their side yard dart comical looking tackling. SMH

the defense sucked yesterday and so did the offense.
Yes the offense scored 31 points after being gift wrapped 3 turnovers, but should have scored 38 since one failed drive started on the 1 yard line.
Let's look at how our great offensive stars did against a poor Jets team.
Burrow threw for 259 yds........White threw for 405 yds
Mixon ran for a big 33 yds on 14 carries.......Carter 77yds on 15 carries
Chase 3 catches for 32 yards.........Jets RB 9-95 yds, WR Crowder 8-84
The Jets 4th best player in receiving stats had double Chase's stats even with 6-67. Not even going to mention the sure TD Chase dropped that had Higgins done people would have their torches and pitchforks out already.
The entire team sucked and do not think just one side of the ball can be blamed.
Especially the side of the ball who hardly ever gets early draft picks on the Bengals.
Most all of our eggs have been put on the offensive side of the ball and they need to perform better. Yet O-line could be the issue still as much as some don't want to admit it.
Nine out of the last ten 1st and 2nd round draft picks have gone to the offense. Bates being taken in the 2nd round of 2018 being the only defensive player taken that early in last 5 years.
Just think both sides stunk and deserve the blame heaped upon them equally.
Could add the call by ref and decision not to take the points by staff as well. It was just a debacle all the way around.

The Jets staff aren't some Bengal kryptonite mad scientists. They took New England's game plan from last week, from a game where the Patriots stomped the shit out of them with dink and dunk/running back passes/screens, and copied it for the Bengals game. That's it. Almost identical. The fact that those guys are from the SF staff is completely coincidental.

If our offense played a team that ran a 2 deep shell/near prevent, they'd have eye-popping numbers, too. You really think Burrow wouldn't dissect a defense that played like ours yesterday? Practically zero pressure on the quarterback? Absolutely wide open players and the same ones in the same places all game? I don't think comparing those numbers is really a good way to tell the story. The lack of defensive adjustments were malpractice on Anarumo's part and there aren't many quarterbacks in this league that wouldn't have had a field day.
If our offense plays bad and puts up 31 a game, then I'm pretty okay with that kind of disappointment, lol. You're in almost every game you play with that total.

Yes, but all of the big FA dollars have been spent on the defense the last couple years. So it kind of evens out. And tbf before yesterday, it had been paying off.

But still the same DC incapable of calling a defense to stop it.

Soooo many bad takes around this place. Not enough people are embarrassed at their posting, while saying the Bengals should be embarrassed at how they played.

And like I've said in several other threads, I think this is what killed our defense. 3 straight road games and on the field way to much in Baltimore. They might as well have played an overtime quarter.

You obviously want both explosion and consistency. However, we had no explosive ability last year, even with Burrow, and we won 4 games. Our explosiveness has helped us win these 5 games. Just have to keep hoping our offense gets better at long drives.

Bengals are towards the bottom of the league in sustained drives
They’re 22nd in the NFL in yards per drive. That’s bad.
But please keep telling me about the times they did manage to drive down the field
Oh and they’re 27th in average time per drive. Which shows that they can’t eat up clock for crap. It’s either big plays or nothing

Welp. that's embarrassing? I googled the Bengals/Ravens 2021 game stats, and got the results from the January game instead of the October game....... Nevermind then .

We win if the score is 1-0 or 1000000 to 999999. Most points scored wins, period. No if, and, or buts about it.
Bottom line, Jets scored more points. It really doesn't matter why because as everyone should know by now any team on any Sunday can play great against all the odds or play lousy against the odds.
Anyone remember New England getting blown out one week then Belicheck saying nothing but On To Cincinnati? They blew us out the following week..

Let's be real here. No one is saying the offense played great or flawless or perfect or close to it. That said, they managed to score 31 points which at point had them at an 11 point lead late in the 4th QTR. To anyone saying that it's the offense that is primarily at fault that we lost are either stupid (or at least stupid when it comes to football) or have an agenda.
I don't think anyone can argue that the offense couldn't have played better on Sunday, but scoring 31 points more times than not is enough to win a game no matter the opponent. So, yes, the defense IS to blame, or, at least, PRIMARILY to blame.

The Jets hadn't scored on an opening drive in a very long time (forget the actual number) until Sunday. T.O.P. was an issue for sure, but the defense sucked from the first whistle.

Ya dont blame the defense, who gave up 500 total yards and didnt force 1 punt and the Jets scored on every drive in the 2nd half. Lets not forget about Mike Whites 400 yards in his first game.. Ya, deffintley dont blame the defense. They were great!

Sorry, sled, but I don't buy that line of thinking. It's not like we're talking about games played the next day. There's a week inbetween games. So unless you want to say the defense is on the field too long during games (which, yes, they certainly are), but then we overwork them in practice, okay, I can buy that (if it's true). But, I just don't see how being on the field too long in one game has any kind of bearing on the next game at all.

This really isn't the end of the Bengals as we know them. They're still the Bengals, still have Joe Burrow at QB with some of the best receivers in the game, still have some very good players on defense. Calm down and accept that they're gonna lose once in awhile.. It's not AS IF they've never lose to bad teams before.. Every team has, even NE, Packers, LA, NO, KC and them all.
But hey...Go on and rant that they're the worst team in the world all because the Jets somehow mopped the floor with a rookie..
I don't like losing any more than anyone else, but it doesn't change history of any other team losing to bad teams in the past.. Remember the Titans.. Jeeeez Louise..
